further information
Our waterbeds have been specially designed to eliminate any
unwanted movement. Air bubbles may produce a slightly
perceivable sound but these can be quickly and easily removed.
In no way does the presence of water cause rheumatism - the
water is tightly closed within its casing and humidity is not
produced. In fact, the heating system even helps prevent
rheumatism. With the thermostat off, the mattress stays at
room temperature (15°, 20°) giving a cool, fresh feeling.
With the thermostat on the water may be heated to a maximum
temperature of 38° C. When running, the mattress consumes
practically no electricity (about 20 watts per hour).
As far as
safety guarantees are concerned, the mattresses conform to the
same rules applying to hospitals. Should a leak occur, it
should not cause alarm - the water will not spill out on to
the floor as it is never under pressure and is held by the
internal spongy fibers, and the whole mattress is surrounded
by a water-proof shell. Any hole can be easily and quickly
mended with the repair kit. The water inside the mattress is
not changed - adding a bottle of our algaecide every year is
all the maintenance that is needed.
Lastly, the
very reliable water-proof properties of the vinyl and the
practicality of the removable, cotton, washable, pre-shrunk
padded covers make these mattresses particularly hygienic,
avoiding the build-up of dust and mites typical of traditional
ones. This being, waterbeds are also particularly suited to
allergy-sufferers. The weight load per square meter of floor
is less than that of a fridge or washing machine. And prices
are enticing when compared to normal orthopedic mattresses,
especially when you consider that the waterbed's temperature
may be regulated.
