LAYING
INSTRUCTIONS
- Application: It may be
nailed or glued down over a wooden sub-floor or glued down
directly over a concrete sub-floor.
- The sub-floor’s surface
must be clean, dry, smooth and free of dirt, oil, wax or
curing agents or other that could influence the glue’s
bonding properties. Existing resilient tile floors may be
left in place.
Wooden sub-floors must be sanded level before laying the
bamboo parquet.
Holes and cracks in concrete sub-floors must be filled
with a cement-based patching substance.
- The first planks nailed
must be square to the room and parallel to the room’s
longest wall. This may be calculated with a chalk line. A
6 mm expansion space must be left next to all walls and
this shall later be covered with skirting. Ensure starter
rows are firmly in place by wedging or face nailing. The
second and further courses of planks are to be blind
nailed directly above the tongues with nails at 45-50
degrees to the face.
Fasteners are to be placed every 25-30 cm with a minimum
of two fasteners per plank.
- The parquet planks are to
be bonded with glues specially made for the purpose, such
as Healthstar 3000.
Spread the glue with a 5x10x14 mm (3/16" x 3/8"
x 9/16") ‘V’ toothed trowel. Leave the glue to
develop tack for 10-20 minutes before positioning the
planks. Once the planks are positioned, pass over them
with a 150# roller. The room, planks and glue must be left
at normal room temperature for 24 hours prior to and after
laying.
- Dampen when laying over
concrete or cement floors. The sub-floor must be tested
using the Calcium Chloride Test method and the flooring
must not be laid if the steam vapor exceeds 3 pounds per
1000 square feet (12.5 g/m2) in 24 hours.
